Description
Villa Athina is fully furnished and equipped to provide a very comfortable holiday home for up to 8 people but with the recent addition of an adjoining one bedroom apartment, we offer flexible accommodation for groups of up to 12.
The villa is on 3 floors and has air-conditioning and central heating. The kitchen is very well equipped to include a Miele fitted oven, 4 ring hob, dishwasher, washing machine and all the utensils a keen cook can desire.
The house has its own garden, large patio and a secure parking space. The large patio area faces the side garden where a large parasol provides shade for up to ten people to sit around a generous wooden table and enjoy the sunshine and the amazing Greek sunsets. Free standing bbq also available.
The 2 large L-shaped balconies (one on each of the upper 2 floors) are furnished with tables and chairs where you can enjoy the panoramic views of the mountains and to the sea.
The floors are beautifully tiled throughout and on the first floor boasts a marble finish. There are books for every taste in the house, a tv and dvd player, a choice of dvds, alarm clock, kids beach toys and many more.
The one bedroom apartment is adjoining the villa and has its own patio.
Located in Porto Rafti, an old fishing village on the east coast of attica, opposite the island of Evia, Andros, Tinos, Mykonos, also Evia, Kea and Kythnos. The house is located only a few minutes from the beautiful Aegean see. Staying with us, you have the best of both worlds: to be close to all Athens has to offer and still away from the bustle of the city, near crystal clean water and beautiful beaches.
We are conveniently placed near Athens (35 km) and the Athens Airport (8 Km). Porto Pafti has many beautiful sandy beaches, restaurants, sea-front tavernas serving fresh fish/seafood, traditional Greek dishes and delicious local wine. There is a mini-market and a traditional Greek taverna just a short stroll from our villa. All main local amenities including clubs and bars, patisseries and coffee shops, open-air cinemas, live entertainment, doctors and chemists, supermarkets and designer boutiques are about 5 minutes drive from the villa. The pine forest of Kouvara with monasteries and the Attica Zoological park are very close to visit.
Nearby places of interest include: Athens, the temple of Artemis (Vravrona), the temple of Poseidon (Sounio), Marathon, Corinth, Delphi, to name a few. From the nearby ports of lavrio, Rafina and Piraeus, you can also hop to many islands for the day.

Enjoy the Sea and the Sun
Porto Rafti has many beautiful beaches to explore all with crystal clear seas, where you can swim and sunbathe, look for sea creatures, sample water sports, hire a canoe or sailing boat and find exclusive fish tavernas in front of the water for a romantic gastronomic dinner. Some of the beaches to explore during your stay are:
- The long sandy beach of 'Avlaki' run by the local authority with lifeguards, showers, parasols, changing rooms, first aid room and bar. Really shallow with crystal clear water. Perfect for families (small charge for daily stay with reduced price per child)
- Many pebbly and rocky beaches (free) for you to dive or your kids to search and catch sea creatures (nets provided; we also have beach rackets and sand toys for young children).
- The 'Panorama beach' (free) with benches for you to sit or lie (but bring your own sand mats and beach towels), really shallow and child friendly sea, with a lovely family taverna and bar for cold drinks, meals and ice-cream.
- The long sandy beach of 'Agio Spyridon' (free) with plenty of parking, bar tavernas and a small church. Close to the 'Kastro' cafe/bar which is worth a visit for the breath taking views.
- The Erotospilia = 'Love cave' (free) fantastic long sandy beach with pine trees, ideal for diving.
- Amble down to our local beach, Agia Marina in about 15 minutes, to enjoy a wide and varied sea-front. The beach is in part sandy, whereas elsewhere it is pebbly. This promenade, hosts a supermarket, an ice-cream parlour (Dodoni), ouzo, fish and meze tavernas, nightclubs and Ammos which is a restaurant (with live music venue every weekend). Opposite Ammos, on the sandy beach, there are sun-loungers with parasols where you can spend a few hours swimming and sipping your favourite drink or coffee (you have to pay for your drinks to use the sun-loungers). This beach has taken its name from the picturesque white church of Agia Marina.
Athens and Sight-seeing
The area near Porto Rafti and the attica region in general, is very rich in history with many places of interest to visit during your stay.
* The pine forest of Kouvaras is just 10 min drive and has many monasteries, a picnic area and play ground while the Zoological Park of attica is about 20 min drive.
* We consider a visit to Athens with Acropolis and museums to be a 'must' and it is very easily reached through the new motorway 'Attiki odos' by bus or metro (35 min); while the Athens International Airport is just 8 Km from the house.
* 7 Km from the villa is Vravrona with the temple of Artemis and museum.
* The impressive temple of Poseidon in Sounio is about 20 min drive, while Marathon, the monastery of Daphni, ancient Corinth, Olympia, Monemvassia, Mycenae. Epidaurus, Delphi and many more destinations of interest, offer fantastic day trips.
* From the ports of Lavrio, Rafina and Piraeus, you can also hop to many Greek islands for the day. "
Eating out and Nightlife
* Porto Rafti, an old fishing village specialises in fresh fish and seafood in abundance. You can enjoy a variety of dishes on the many sea front tavernas, most of which are found in the beautiful old port area but also spread along the coast some on the beach!
* Still not too touristy, Porto Rafti does boast a number of excellent night clubs and bars, some of which provide live music, food, excellent views of the sea or you can enjoy a dring around the pool. A local favourite is a sunday lunch and/or dinner at 'ammos' where you can eat, drink and dance.
