If you love getting the sand between your toes, the beach on Cabanas Island is gorgeous and is part of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve
It is just 400m from the apartment which also has 4 swimming pools plus cafe, restaurant and play park.

Beach
Beach on Cabanas Island is gorgeous fine golden sand and accessed via a 2 minute speedboat trip which is fun in itself! There are showers, toilets and 2 cafes plus parasols and beds to rent so you can stay all day if you want to
Golf
There are 3 golf courses within 5 minutes drive of the aprtment and plenty more if you drive 20-30 minutes. The nearest are Benamor, Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima
Family Friendly
The apartment is well set up for families with everything from a cot and high chair for the very youngest. Outside there is a safe play park. The 4 swimming pools are gated so only residents can access.
The nearest restaurant is just 100m and has a children's menu - but any restaurant will welcome children!

There are 4 pools accessed with residents only cards so they are never busy and you can always find one to yourself!
Restaurants
There are lots of great family run restaurants in Cabanas which welcome children and range from typical Portuguese to French and Italian influenced. My favourites are in my guide to the apartment
Trips out
Spain is just 15 minutes away - take the boat over from Vila Real to Ayamonte or drive. Seville is 90 minutes drive. Lots of places to visit in Portugal within 30 minutes drive and good for walks.
