Description
This luxurious and spacious apartment has 2 bedrooms (1 double, 1 with 2 single beds). The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and in addition there is a second shower room/toilet/bidet.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need (including fridge, washing machine, iron, ironing board, kettle, toaster, microwave oven and full size cooker). However if you prefer to eat out, there are many restaurants to choose from locally.
The large lounge has a 3 seater sofa and 2 armchairs and a dining table seating 6. It has a payphone, UK Sky television, DVD player, video recorder and radio/CD/cassette player.
There is a large patio with some sheltering from the sun and there is a marble table/benches suitable for 6.
The complex has a swimming pool and there are 4 sun loungers/chairs for you to use around the grounds as you choose.
There is an efficient bus network criss-crossing the island but hiring a car is a distinct advantage as it allows you to explore the island. There is a designated parking bay for the apartment.
The local beaches (two have soft golden sand) are about a mile away and can be reached on foot via pathways or by car in a few minutes.
Madeira is, of course, famous for its levadas. There are over 2000 kilometres of levadas on this beautiful island. There are levada walks for beginners and for more experienced walkers. The more advanced ones require you to have proper boots. Many of the walks take you to the inner island where no car can reach and you can experience the real unspoilt Madeiran countryside.
Madeira is very popular with bird watchers and ramblers, and there are various web sites and publications of recommended walks to explore this beautiful island. For example http://www.madeira-holiday.com/pages/walks.html and http://www.walking.demon.co.uk/madwalk.htm There is information in the apartment covering a wide variety of activities including walks, hang gliding, balloon and helicopter rides, diving and gardens and other places of interest to visit.
There are 2 golf courses on the island with a third underway. There are health and leisure club facilities locally. Horse riding and water sports are also available.
Funchal is about 25 minutes away and the airport, about 40 minutes. Both are straightforward journeys.
Madeira is a beautiful, quiet island and an ideal 'all year round' holiday destination. It is famous for its all year round mild climate rarely dropping below 18C nor much above 25C.
Various flight options are available including the use of British Airways Air Miles via their subsidiary GB Airways.

Beaches
Calheta is one of the very few places on Madeira with a beach and Calheta has two with golden sand as well as a marina. There is a wide variety of shops and places to eat nearby.
Leisure Centre
Within Ardo da Calheta, there is a brand new large leisure centre that we have yet to explore.
Golf
There are 2 courses on the island with a third planned. The courses are challenging and the views stunning.
Levada Walking
Famous for its levadas, Madeira has 2000 kilometres of walks for all standards.
Pool
The condominium has a private pool and changing rooms alongside.
