Description

Jasmine Cottage (2 bedrooms, sleeps 5) has an open plan living area with traditional log burner, English satellite TV, DVD player and CD player. The fully equipped kitchen includes a full size cooker, fridge freezer and microwave. It has two bedrooms, one double and one bedroom sleeping three with a set of bunk beds and a single bed. The cottage also has a shower room. The Laundry Room offers free to use facilities including washing machine, irons and ironing boards. Free broadband (ADSL) wired Internet access is available in the laundry room. Jasmine Cottage has it’s own private enclosed garden complete with BBQ and garden furniture. A large selection of bicycles from childs to adults are available to use free of charge.

On Your Doorstep

Begin your day by taking a gentle stroll to the friendly boulangerie in our local village of Masserac for your fresh bread & croissants for breakfast. The village also offers a traditional French cafe bar with large screen TV for any important sporting events, a small grocery shop and a Health, Beauty and Well Being centre.

Another 10 minutes away is the lively town of Guemene Penfao where you will find a supermarket, indoor swimming pool, canoe hire for paddling along the River Don & pony trekking. Fishing enthusiasts can take advantage of the private fishing lake just a couple of minutes away from the cottages. Also close to home why not follow the River Vilaine as it meanders peacefully through the rural countryside stretching for many miles. Take a cycle ride or walk on the accompanying toll path and enjoy a picnic on the riverside.


Beaches and swimming

There are several beautiful swimming lakes with beaches, picnic areas and watersports and outdoor
swimming pools all within 15 minutes from La Cour. The nearest beaches are located in the
charming French holiday towns of Damgan and Penestin, both with stunning sandy beaches and
a good selection of shops and restaurants, just 37 miles from cottage to beach. The larger resorts of LaTurballe & La Baule, where white sandy beaches stretch for several miles, are also within easy reach.


Walking and Cycling

On your doorstep you can enjoy a gentle stroll through woodlands and around
small lakes. You can then make your way down to the River Vilaine and follow
it as it meanders across open fields and past picturesque hamlets & villages.
You could spend a month walking in the Loire Atlantique and Southern Brittany and never cross the same path. There are 7000 miles of paths consisting of 800 walks that make their way through unspoiled countryside, across deep forests, follow grand rivers and along the seashore. There are over 50 special walking maps from all our local tourist information offices.

The Loire Atlantique / Southern Brittany is the cyclists paradise. On your doorstep you have a cycle path adjacent to the River Vilaine where you can follow the meandering river in the direction of the historic town of Redon and the coast or head north towards the city of Rennes
You can design your own routes using the many rarely used minor roads and cycle past the expanse of meadows & countryside and pass through the local quaint villages.


Fishing and Golf

La Cour Cottages are situated in a region named Les Trois Rivieres (The Land of the 3 Rivers), the rivers Isac, Don & Brivet. Also with just a 5 minute stroll from La Cour you reach the banks of the meandering River Vilaine as it flows towards Redon. You can find great fishing lakes only a couple of minutes away at “Le Clos Morin, just outside Masserac. You can fish almost any where in the Loire-Atlantique or Southern Brittany, on slow rivers or sparkling streams, in deep lakes or on the Atlantic coast. In the fast flowing streams there is excellent Fly Fishing for trout or in the deeper slower rivers the quarry includes Tench, Carp, Roach & Rudd. In the unspoiled countryside anglers fish for tasty carnivores such as Pike, Perch and Zander.

The Western Loire has 26 courses (17 public) and Southern Brittany has 7. Some are links courses , down by the sea, others are inland in rolling countryside. The closest golf course to La Cour is in the grounds of the Chateau at Missillac only 30 minutes away. Also in the grounds you can take advantage of of tennis courts and angling ponds. Other nearby courses are at Savaneu (40 mins) & Caden (45 mins).


Family and Other Attractions

Les Naudieres Park is a great attraction park offering a fun day out. Karting, 15 different huge bouncy
castles, the luge and plenty more to keep the whole family amused. Branfere Park offers an open
air animal park with interesting animals from around the world. Set in the grounds of Château Branféré
the children will love to feed some of the animals. Tepacap Park is a fantastic outdoor activity theme
park set around a lake for children, offering different areas for different age groups.

Other attractions
Also nearby are the Resistance Museum offering a fascinating insight into the life in the area during
WW II as well as the car museum with it’s exhibition of over 400 collector’s cars. For a trip around
the Oceans of the world and it’s inhabitants the Oceanarium at La Croisic or for earlier inhabitants the Prehistoric Park at Malansac. For lovers of nature the Megalithic site at St Just just 10 minutes from
La Cour is an exceptional natural landscape.


Towns and Cities

If you prefer a more relaxed way of life why not visit the ancient trading town of Redon where the Nantes-Brest Canal meets the River Vilaine and explore the many shops, weekly open air market and indoor / outdoor swimming pool. There are many beautiful towns and cities in the area.
The stunning medieval walled town of Guerande located in the salt mining area with it’s artisan shops, open air market, museums and cathedral.
Vannes a beautiful fortified city has an old centre of cobbled streets, cathedral, beautiful gardens all on the mouth of the River Vannes.
Nantes on the River Loire is often cited as being one of the best cities in France to live in. Visit the Gothic Cathedral, the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne, the mechanicanical elephant and Jules Verne Museum or merely relax on a lunch or dinner cruise on the waterways.
As the name suggests, Chateaubriant is the home to a magnificent medieval castle as well as the renowned Chateaubriant steak. A beautiful Roman church, a bustling weekly market, charming architecture and a stunning glass theatre in this historic town.
